Farrah Von-Dale

Been wanting to do some Transistor fanart for a while and just wrapped up on Farrah Von-Dale last night. Used this piece to try to push myself a bit further and tried to approach this with with a more focused mindset. Overall had some fun working on her. Bigups to and the whole Super Giant team!

Martin the Warrior

Found some Redwall fanart from last year. I have always wanted to give this type of stuff a go. This was fun to do, but I am already seeing where I could push it.

boxer

I had the most fun working on this that I have in a while. There were a few things that were really freeing. I hope you enjoy, as I continue to chase that feeling

Selfie

40-50 minutes before bed

Process:

Was a great exercise in letting details go. Not getting hung up on areas while taking on the foreground and background one at a time. I am still working through letting things read loosely and contrasting that with rendering tightly as opposed to rendering one area tight and then thinking the entire piece needs that same treatment. Is anyone else bumping into this problem as well? Let me know in the comments.

I drew this piece as an example to discuss character design with an old co-worker. He seriously said she was still too covered up :O

This was an attempt to just have fun and forget about practicality.

Self Portrait Day!

I was a bit more prepared this year for Self Portrait Day.  I was pretty stoked for it to roll around but shamelessly didn't come up with a good lighting plan.  Instead I decided to sit in the dark, and use the underglow of my monitors as my light sources in a dark room.  I found it interesting at first because of all of the subtleties, and yet only managed to catch a few of them.  A good practice nonetheless and will be doing more in the near future.  The rest is some #inktober stuff, some practice pieces and the final image is a remix of an old character from about 5 years back.  Thanks for looking!

Sketchbook Jargon

A page from my most recent sketchbook.  Trying out a few different things and trying to let my style pronounce itself again. The beardface and the girl with the cup are my favs from this page.

Live Junk

Where I stopped on the stream before it was dinner time.  I may or may not go back to this guy to push the design around a bit more~

Heaven's Hell Fanart

I got a chance to sit down and got a chance to play with some pixels for a moment, and wanted to do some fan art of my buddy AJ's world Heaven's Hell.  He ran a contest earlier this year and I decided to do a drawing using his rules as my challenge.  It was to complete a character within an hour that would belong in the world of Heaven's Hell.  After that hour I liked where it was at, but decided to mess around with some techniques and try to push the piece to finish.  Also facebook's image crunchiness motivated me to push things a bit further and clean up a lot of the areas to read clearer.

Blue Wizards. Character Forge #38

Here's how it turned out~
This one definitely made me push some of my designs further upon seeing how some of the stuff was stale, or standard.  I wanted to push a few things further, but the deadline came up and I barely got this sucker in on time.  Well there is always the next one, and I will try not to get too hung up on working a piece to death, too much arting to do and too little time.  Thanks for looking!

2 Blue

some more progress on this one.  This is my WIP for my entry over at cg hub for the 2D Character Forge.
The two blue wizards mentioned in The Hobbit.

Finishing up the bigger shapes and the lighting strategy and gonna start noodling in some details and color soon :D
